SNR Podcast #17 - 8/18/2012 - Ribbon Mics & New Gear Q&A

This week we took a couple questions from our henchman Nate DeMare and ran with them. He wanted to know about ribbon mics and learning new gear. Hear about all that and a whole lot more. As usual you can stream the experience right here, or use the MP3 link below to stream or save for later listening. Enjoy!

  1. I'm listening to the episode right now.
Just a quick correction: During mic check we go "check eins, zwei, einssss, ssssszwei" usually. Unless we wanna sound really globetrottery, in which case we say "check, one, two" ;)

    1. This is funny in so many ways. I'll be honest, the only international sound guys I've ever heard were from Denmark and Canada. I was imitating the Danes. The Canadians sound like, "Check one, two, eh?". It's also interesting to think about how the syllables test out the system when you're speaking Deutch.

  2. Yeah, I thought about the same thing. Makes you wonder! I think someone should conduct a study if this affects what soundguys from different parts of the world do to their graphic eqs ;) one, two toooroooonto.
